How does Starfil 50mg Tablet work?

Starfil 50mg Tablet relaxes the smooth muscles by inhibiting Phosphodiesterase type-5. This results in the increase of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which relaxes the smooth muscles and increases the flow of blood.

Side Effects of Starfil 50mg Tablet

Side Effects:

Common:

• Flushing
• Indigestion
• Headache, dizziness
• Stuffy nose
• Effects on vision
• Nausea

Uncommon:

• Skin rash
• Eye problems
• Gastro-esophageal reflux disease
• Dry mouth
• Nasal block
• Reduced sense of touch
• High or low blood pressure
• Rapid heartbeat
• Feeling sleepy or tired
• Muscle pain
• Presence of blood in semen/urine
• Vertigo
• Ringing in the ears

Rare:

• Throat tightness
• Numbness of mouth, fainting
• Temporary decrease in blood flow to the brain
• Nosebleed
• Sudden decrease or loss of hearing

Stop taking Starfil 50mg Tablet and contact your doctor immediately if you experience:

• Severe allergic reaction
• Priapism
• Chest pain
• Severe skin reactions
• Fits or seizures

How to Manage Side Effects:

• Dizziness or drowsiness: Rest, avoid driving, and consult your doctor.
• Headache: Rest, hydration, and pain-relieving balm. Consult your doctor if it worsens.
• Nausea and vomiting: Take with or after meals, stick to simple meals, and consult your doctor if it worsens.

Directions for Use of Starfil 50mg Tablet

Starfil 50mg Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break, or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without food. It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Dosage & Administration of Starfil 50mg Tablet

Adult Dose:

Oral Erectile Dysfunction:

• Adult: Take 50 mg about 1 hour before sexual intercourse. Adjust the dose based on penile response. Maximum: 100 mg/dose and not to be taken more than once in 24 hours.
• Elderly (>65 years): Lower initial dose at 25 mg.
• Hepatic Impairment: Initially, 25 mg.

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension:

• Adult: Take 20 mg three times daily, administered 4-6 hours apart.

Renal Dose:

For patients with renal impairment:

• Creatinine Clearance (CrCl) <30 ml/min: Initially, 25 mg.

Interaction

Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including nitrates, protease inhibitors, and other blood pressure medications.
